i even deleted the auxilary.bin file but i still have the save for the base :S. i did exactly as you said by replacing the auxilary.bin file located in "C:\Users\My Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Halo 2\Saved Games\S0000000" with the one i downloaded but im still left off at the point I last saved (The base). I would really appreciate it if you could help me. The only thing is my settings have all gone - On vista this seems to be in C:>users>save games. I tried replacing the auxilary.bat file from the save game that Ryu posted and it also works (ie loads at his last save point). Start the game again and this time the new profile should work and the game should allow you to continue from where you left off. Now transfer only the auxilary.bat file from your old/downloaded save file into the new one. Once the game has started (in the base) save and exit.
A little look in the Library folder had the answer.
